The locations is Fallsburg, New York. You have to be quick on the draw to get the answers guys!
Did you know that Fallsburg is a town in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The town is in the eastern part of the county. The population was 12,234 at the 2000 census. The town takes its name from a waterfall on the Neversink River. An alternate spelling of the town is Fallsburgh. This town is the very heart of a once popular predominately Jewish summer resort area known as the Catskills Borscht Belt.

My apologies for the "er", we were in the restaurant and talking about a burger and typed it all out. In all fairness, everyone will be rewarded. The first place winner will get the full payout and all others that posted the correct answer will be giving half the reward. Good job guys.

P.S. Sorry about the late post, I thought I posted this morning but I obviously didn't. The next game will start almost immediately after.

Snip07, how did you know it was Melvil Dewey, maybe that google search up to , heh? Well that is correct and he was born in Adams Centre (1900th spelling).

Did you know the community was founded around 1816 and was first known as "Adams Five Corners." That name was used until at least 1828. The exact date of the name change is not known, but the hamlet became known as Adams Centre, a spelling that continued until about 1900.The completion of a railroad line in 1852 aided the growth of the village.

Next game will be commencing in less than 30 minutes we are going to try something different....Leave some feedback as to which you like best.

Yes, we are talking about Highland, New York. Thanks for pointing that out Bhubbel.

Something to know...
The town was formed from the Town of Lumberland in 1853. Barryville is named for William T. Barry, postmaster general under President Andrew Jackson. The community grew up around the D&H Canal, which opened in 1828 and operated until 1898. The canal ran through what is today the center of the hamlet, and the canal company operated a number of stores, an office and a dry dock there.
The Delaware River also served as the conduit for timber cut in the area and rafted to Philadelphia for use in the ship building industry. Men made fortunes in the timber business, and when the industry died in the middle of the 19th century, many river communities died with it. In fact, writing in 1899, John Willard Johnston, lawyer, historian, and the town of Highland’s first supervisor, predicted a dire future for Barryville.
"Barryville is a small, poor village now," he wrote, "but at one time supported an active business. The lumber of the region being exhausted, the business of canaling declining and now abandoned, it has for the last 25 years been waning, until now it seems to have reached a bottom of hardpan. Human imagination can hardly reach anything in the future likely to improve it; but it will probably remain indefinitely the small poor place it now is."

Next game will be starting soon, be sure you are checking back here daily as information always changes. There's at least 2 winners everyday!!

Thanks for all of our players and the information they provided. As mentioned the winner would be paid double if they provided valuable information. Although Bhubbel did provide the correct answer, it was Marsha who provided some history of Logtown, New York:

Logtown, NY is a community located in Orange County. "Logtown," so called from the fact that the logs cut there were run down West creek, which empties into the Mohawk at Auriesville. Logtown was never an organized village, but was a central meeting place for the pioneers for a great many years. It was the scene of some of the early Indian conflicts with the settlers. The settlement was patriotic and furnished soldiers for the revolution, and Peter Hall with his neighbors did some private disciplining of Tories, on their own account, which led the crown authorities to offer rewards for their apprehension.

Thanks goes to :

A little bit about Chester, NY:

The town was first settled around 1721. The town of Chester was organized in 1845 from parts of the towns of Blooming Grove, Goshen, Monroe, and Warwick. The economy of the early town was based on dairy products. Sugar Loaf – The oldest community in the town, predating Chester town by more than a century (1738). Congrats to Snip07, you solved the riddle and provided the correct city, Buchanan, New York!

Something you didn't probably know:

Buchanan, New York is a quiet little upscale community you probably would have never known about had it not been for its nuclear power plants at Indian Point. Interest in shutting down Indian Point dates back to 1979 following the Three Mile Island accident. However, some industry groups have said that shutting Indian Point would put a severe strain on New York City's electricity supply. Entergy (the operator of the plant), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (F.E.M.A.), and the NRC say the plant is safe.Public health concerns about the plant have been raised by activists, specifically in terms of radioactive contamination. On February 15, 2000, the Indian Point II power plant vented a small amount of radioactive steam when an aging steam generator ruptured. The NRC initially reported that no radioactive material was released, but later changed their report to say that there was a leak, but not of a sufficient amount to threaten public safety.

Next game will start soon, make sure you are spreading the word about us, the more visitors we have the more likely we will increase payouts. As for those who know, our payouts have increased approx. 300% from when we first started.

Snip07 was very quick on the draw and pointed out Pearl River, New York.

Some history -
Pearl River was originally called "Muddy Creek". In the early 1870s, the town was divided in five different parts: Naurashaun, Middletown, Sickletown, Pascack and Muddy Brook. According to historians, a resident of the town by the name of Dr. Ves Bogert found pearls in mussels in the Muddy Creek, which runs through the town, thus naming the town Pearl River.

Pearl River was a deserted area purchased by Julius E. Braunsdorf in 1870. It is said that Braunsdorf was the "Father of Pearl River" and designed it to be a company town. His first act was to donate a long strip of land right through the center of his property to the New Jersey and New York Railroad to enable them to bring an extension of the line from Hillsdale, New Jersey north to Nanuet.

When Braunsdorf designed the street layout, the only existing streets were Pearl Street and Washington Avenue. He drew a wide main street through the middle of town and called it Central Avenue. Parallel to Central Avenue he drew Franklin, after his hero, Benjamin Franklin. To connect Washington, Central, and Franklin he drew three streets and named them William, John and Henry after his three sons.

You did it Roxy VR - you won!! Thanks Bhubbel for that informative comment you made! The correct location was Congers, NY.

Some history:

Congers was settled in the late 1600's by the Dutch, German and English settlers. Congers, named after Abraham B. Conger, settled in the late 1600's by the Dutch, German and English settlers and was known as Cedar Grove Corner and then Waldberg, which in German means "forest mountain".
In the 1800's the Congers railroad station, three churches, a school, the firehouse and the Central and Globe hotels were built. The Clarktown Dutch Reformed Church still stands at the corner of Congers Road and Kings Highway. Kings Highway was the first major road in the county and for many years the only road from New York to Albany.
Today exists nine recognized structures with historical markers dating back to the 1700's including the DeBaum House on Kings Highway, the Smith House on Gilchrest Road and the Snedeker House, where the Commander-in-chief George Washington is believed to have spent a night.

Next game will be commencing soon, stay vigilant and keep those search engines near by.....Make sure you're a facebook fan so that you can have another opportunity to win money.
